The story line in this book is the journey of Michelle and Michael, a couple discovering these nine sexual archetypes in their own love lives. Their sex therapist? None other than “Dr. Oona” herself. Not to confuse you, but in this book, “Dr. Oona” is both a character in our story and the co-author.

Although Michael and Michelle have graciously volunteered to tell us their story and let us peek into their bedroom, they could be any of us. To quote Michelle:

Maybe it’s lucky our names are so similar; that way, we can be thought of interchangably—even with regarrd to gender. If you’re lesbian, then think of us as women. The same goes for gays, bisexuals, transgenders, intersex, and everybody else. And even if you’re a couple with four kids, living on a farm in North Dakota, we’d like you to think of us as your next-door neighbors. Come on over. We’ll break out some beers and get to know each other.

Michael and I have been together for four years now. It’s been great. Well, everything except our sex life. I mean, I love him. A lot. But for a long time, there was also something missing. Well, not exactly missing, it’s more like we would get stuck. It seemed like we were coming from different planets sometimes.

Then Dr. Oona told us about sexual archetypes. It was like someone lit a candle on a moonless night. I could see. We both could see! And it changed our lives. “Oh, that’s what’s going on!” We would laugh out loud over and over. But the best part was that we learned how to really dive in and totally enjoy each other.

It’s been amazing. I mean I’m not sure we’d still be together if we hadn’t discovered this! And that would have been very sad, because Michael is so present. At least, now he is…. &nbbsp; Sex has become a mystical journey for us. It’s as if sex has changed from meat and potatoes to a gourmet feast. I love it!
